Larn Lab - Preparedness
2024 Safety Week presented by Irving Park’s Northridge First Responders
During the closing of the 2024 Fall school year, Larn Lab provided safety enrichments, and preparedness training for Pre K to 3rd grade participants within our Illinois and California chapters.
Our Illinois parent volunteer, Shirley Alemendarez supported her community outreach with 2024 Safety Town in Irving Park, Illinois. Held annually at the Harlem Irving Plaza within the mall and parking garage, the Northridge first responders provided safety lesson and emergency walk-throughs to help youth participants understand first responder messages, signs, and instructions.
For our California Chapter, Freemont Elementary Pre-K teacher Griselda Quezada presented signage and evacuation instructions in Vietnamese, Spanish and English for Pre-K participants living within California’s wildfire, earthquake and flooding areas.
As environmental and community emergencies increase, Larn Lab’s Preparedness lessons help improve youth and ESL learners how to support first responders and those not aware of safety protocols to quickly understand needs during emergency incidents.
