It’s Time to Acknowledge that Tscion is an NGO
As our society faces environmental and community concerns, Tscion is working to embrace its Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) status by expanding outreach to address current events and emergency preparedness concerns. While our nonprofit is not significantly known for providing evacuee and refugee support, we have noticed increased Disaster-Prepardness and Post Disparity needs.
During 2022-23, we noticed increased support due to environmental emergencies such as food insecurity and environmental preparedness (floods, fires) occurring in our three serving regions. Our assistance became supplemental support for first responders, assisting underserved and foreign citizens displaced within the US during emergency incidents. We are working to develop an assessment of what service needs can accompany the traditional food and shelter support supplied during a disaster and displacement.
We have also noticed a newly increased academic displacement due to political misalignment in US school districts. Our assessment plan is to review academic needs that consider social concerns that may not be provided for our youth during times of disaster. When COVID-19 occurred, we began seeing these academic disparities and decided to develop a framework that takes all challenges into consideration.
We are now looking to request state and federal grants, primarily for environmental displacement occurring from floods, fires, and industrial disasters. Our goal is to be clearly identified on State and Federal level registries as neutral parties that assist any and all regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation. The results of our assessment are based on a concerning level of support needed to better help evacuees and refugees with Post Disaster needs within the United States.
