Tscion EE Framework Development

Connell-2019 EE Alignment

Assessment is based on three categorizations Fully Aligned, Partially Aligned, Not Aligned, Connell (2019)

Tscion Research is currently developing an Environmental Education (EE) framework that encompasses lessons and activities to improve EE Literacy. The EE framework includes Tscion EE philosophy regarding the teaching of Environmental Education and hand's-on methods for stewardship and classroom learning. The 3 Month development includes student, teacher, and community awareness for EE. This framework aims to create learning products for print and online through Tscion Academia's LARN. The framework's scope, Grades 6th -12th, includes blind studies of students, reviewed by teachers within the State of Colorado and State of Illinois school systems.

Framework development is based on a EE Assessment developed by Margaretann G. Connell, Ph.D. (2019). Connell’s EE Assessment evaluates the current Environmental Education (EE) curriculum and learn how it supports the Science / Environmental Education Curricular Standards. The assessment provides a systematic approach to determine the alignment between the existing and self-adopted EE science standards. Based on Connell (2019), NAAEE (2010), GCDEE (1980), Tbilisi (1978).

Connell (2019) assessment is based on three categorizations:

  • Fully Aligned, direct Environmental Education curricula and science professional development questions

  • Partially Aligned, direct science curricula and professional development questions, that also discuss the possible implementation of Environmental Education curriculum.

  • Not Aligned, direct questions discussing the current science curricula and which areas successful and other areas in which improvement are needed to implement an Environmental Education curriculum.
